Columbia River Maritime Museum, Astoria Oregon

Museums worldwide are slowly moving towards virtual museums online. However, this requires a significant budget for hiring digitization services. This is where collaboration with industrial partners that support education, museums, and non-profit foundations, like Ilios Remote Sensing and Norsk Remote Sensing. These companies have begun with digization of the Peacock, a pilot boat from the Columbia River that is now stored outside the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

Once the HAES, Ilios, and Norsk have developed a sufficient portfolio, we will propose to the CRMM for us to digitize their entire collection for creating a virtual museum with the purpose of furthering education and increasing visitation.

Below are examples of the result of digitization/virtualization. On the left is a 3D model whose view is user-controllable but at lower resolution. On the right is a fly through that shows greater detail.
